April Newsletter – Festival Postponed

Deptford X Festival Postponed
In our last newsletter we confirmed that for as long as we could, we would continue working on delivery of an October festival, however with changes to our funding and our inability to run our event space for hires we have had to re-evaluate our current capacity to deliver a festival in 2020 and instead focus on what would be most useful to our community during this time.
For that reason we would like to confirm that this year’s Deptford X festival will be postponed until spring/summer 2021. This means we will not be hosting a fringe programme or any offline events until next year. We hope to have a new date for you in due course, as well as information on the remote programming we are developing to maintain and support our artistic community during this time.
In the meantime, please sign up to our newsletter to keep in touch with the opportunities and programming we are developing and as always feel free to tag us in any posts you would like re-sharing or any online events or artworks for sale that you would like us to promote.
We currently have two open calls out at the moment:
Supported
For the time being you can continue to apply for Supported until the deadline date of: 19th April 2020. We will then re-open applications at a later date for a second round.
Anyone who has already applied will still be included and if you wish to re-submit or edit an already submitted application for round 2, you can do this at any time until the new deadline date.
We will confirm when this second round is open once we have new festival dates confirmed for 2021.
Gospel Green Fringe Bursary/Label competition
As you are all aware the outbreak of Covid-19 has hit small independent businesses especially hard and our partners Gospel Green are no different. These are uncertain times, but Gospel Green director Brock Bergius has said they would love to continue to support our work.
For that reason, we are changing the parameters of the Fringe Bursary Label competition.
The open call is now simply a label competition where the prize is £250 awarded by Gospel Green – there will no longer be a requirement to use the prize funds for your Deptford X Fringe project or for the applicant to be applying for the Fringe. This opportunity is open to anyone and everyone.
We will still select a short list of three finalists, each of whom will be sent bottles of gospel green to take part in a virtual tasting session and tour with Brock before going on to design their labels.
The winner will receive £250 and have their label design promoted and printed on a special edition run of Gospel Green bottles. The three finalists will also have their designs displayed at next year’s festival.
More details on new dates and application form will be coming soon.
