Deptford X 2015

Deptford X Festival 2015: Lead artist, Janette Parris, invited 50 guest artists to work alongside her in her Deptford-Wide Project, BRIEF ENCOUNTERS.

Deptford X’s 2015 lead artist Janette Parris has strong links with South East London, having studied at Camberwell and Goldsmiths. As an associate artist of the Festival in 2014, her conversations with local people inspired her to create BRIEF ENCOUNTERS, an animated soap opera. For the 2015 Festival, Janette invited 50 guest artists to work alongside her in this Deptford-wide project.

The 2015 Festival presented over 400 established and emerging artists across ten days of site-specific installations, group exhibitions, open studies, workshops, performances, and events.

The launch of the 2015 Festival marked the opening of our headquarters on Brookmill Road. We worked with Galliard Homes for over 5 years on this project, and the Gallery was a focal point of this Festival.

We also worked with Anthology again as our Lead Sponsor. Their support of the Festival, along with grants from the London Borough of Lewisham and Arts Council England, and funded space from Galliard Homes, enabled us to expand development of the year-round programme of visual arts and education project in Deptford.
