Calling all Carnival Enthusiasts!
Carnival Reimagined
Like all events around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that Notting Hill Carnival this year it will not take place on the streets as it has done so for over 50 years.
Notting Hill Carnival was founded to bring people together during trying times and this residency ‘Carnival Reimagined’ intends to contribute to that legacy.
Artist and educator Linett Kamala is a lifelong carnivalist. During August 2020, as part of her Deptford X Residences at Home, she will be exploring questions such as:
- How do you intend to maintain the carnival spirit of togetherness during this COVID-19 pandemic?
- What connections do communities and individuals in Lewisham have with the Notting Hill Carnival?
- How can carnival be viewed as a force for healing?
- How has Carnival Arts & Culture through costume, sound, movement, food & drink, positively impacted your wellbeing, mind health & identity?
