Corner New Cross with 34Bus
LGBTQ+ mural at Corner New Cross
An art exhibition of the proposed LGBTQ+ mural at Corner New Cross.
We are going to create a fantastic new piece of street-art for the New Cross Area, inspired by the LGBTQ+ community and this exhibition will be to display the initial artwork.
The artwork for the mural will be inspired by the LGBTQ+ community but the themes of inclusivity are global; the aim is to create a piece of art that will be meaningful to as many people as possible so that everyone in the community can imprint something of themselves into the image.
This project is a collaboration between Corner New Cross, coffee shop and art gallery, and 34Bus a Community Interest Company (CIC), made up of graduate artists from The Lewisham School of Muralism (LSoM), with the support of Artmongers (CIC).
Corner is an LGBTQ+ led business, headed up by partners Tarek Merlin (he/him) and Mark Osman-Barter (he/they), and head Barista, Libby Desborough (they/them).
We will be working with LGBTQ+ artists (graduates of LSoM), Liv Wright (she/her), Eli King (they/them) and Alistair Leys (he/him) to create the artwork, which will be designed in discussion with the local community, with input from our residential neighbours and local businesses.
Corner New Cross with 34Bus graduates of Lewisham School of Muralism, supported by Artmongers.
