Core Programme
Deptford X Core Programme 2023
A core programme of projects and events that includes festival commissions, tours, talks and performances, and additional 25th anniversary specific projects and partnerships.
Commissions
This year we have a core programme of exciting commissions by 6 artists, with works by Carl Gent and Holly Graham reflecting on the organisation’s history; an intergenerational parade led by artist Rafał Zajko; and experimental new work by local artists KAZ, Raheel Khan and nyanju, selected as part of our annual Supported programme.
Parade
Our annual artist-led parade is back this year with Rafał Zajko leading a ‘Techno Harvest’ procession through Deptford with students from Deptford Green and Watergate Schools and elders from Meet Me at The Albany
Events
This year’s events include a talk with current Deptford X director, Nathalie Boobis, Deptford X founding director, Reuben Thurnhill, and commissioned artists Carl Gent and Holly Graham; a BSL led tour of the festival by Deaf artist and architect, Martin Glover, a live performance by nyanju, and a musical performance by feeo in response to Raheel Khan’s commissioned work.
25th Anniversary
2023 is Deptford X’s 25th anniversary and we have produced a book and exhibition for the occasion. In addition, we have partnered with London Community Video Archive, Sophie Chapman and Beth Bramich of Ditto Space, and Caravan Arts and Meet Me at The Albany to broaden the discussion around the histories and futures of creative practice and local communities in Deptford and the wider borough of Lewisham.
This year’s festival would not be possible without the support of our funders, sponsors, and venue and delivery partners. We would like to extend our gratitude for your support.
