#43Leaves for Deptford
Following on from Sean Worrall’s rather successful Deptford X Art Drop last year, the #43Leaves for Deptford will see Sean invite other artists including Emma Harvey, MyDogSighs, M.O.B, Suzie Pindar + more to join him to collect pieces of wood, packaging and such from the streets and skips of Deptford, painting on the unwanted recycled material and them leave the paintings back out on the street for people to take. Each piece will have the #43Leaves hashtag on the back along with a label inviting people to take the piece and to post photos of the piece and themselves on social media. Art doesn’t always have to be in a gallery, sometimes it should go out and meet people on the streets. Last year Sean’s piece resulted in a lot of engagement, this year we want to bring more artists in. The pieces generally are taken within hours, last year they ended up on people’s walls, pubs, cafés in Deptford and beyond (one turned up in California, another went to Dublin, we loved some of the photos people posted, the conversations we got into on Deptford High Street). The piece encourages engagement with art while addressing the waste of valuable resources, it was also lots of fun.
