rasadesign.art on recycled glass

My creative practice begins with intuitive sketching, drawing inspiration from natural forms and emotional responses to my environment. These initial hand-drawn sketches serve as the foundation of my work. I photograph them and transition into the digital realm, where I transform the images into vector illustrations. This stage allows me to explore and refine compositions, experimenting with shape, figure, and color to articulate my artistic vision.
I work across a variety of surfaces and materials, including wood and glass, which add texture and dimensionality to my pieces. For the Deptford X Festival, I will be showcasing a series of illustrations printed on recycled double-glazed glass panels. These works are created using inkjet printing techniques that allow me to play with transparency, layering, and the interplay of light and shadow.
Audiences can expect to see a diverse collection of semi-abstract illustrations that reflect my distinct style, which blends elements of pop art, figurative minimalism, and abstract expressionism. The artworks often feature women — sometimes depicted in abstract nude forms — alongside diverse individuals and anthropomorphized animals. Through these characters and compositions, I explore themes of identity, emotional resonance, and the complexity of human (and non-human) relationships.
The use of recycled glass not only adds a sustainable dimension to the work, but also enhances its ethereal quality, encouraging viewers to engage with each piece from multiple perspectives — literally and metaphorically.
