‘Flint’ narrates 500 million years of the evolution of bone to flint which lines the banks of the River Thames, the geological remains of silica-harnessing sea creatures whose skeletons formed the flint ballast in the eleven ships that transported convicts and settler-colonists to Australia in 1788. Indigenous stone tool made from the London flint were uncovered on the lands of the Bidjigal and Gadigal people in Warrane/ Sydney in 2016.

I acknowledge all First Nations people and Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and honour their enduring connection to land, water, culture and community. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
